Anxiety is hard to deal with, am I supposed to do it alone?
One of the biggest misconceptions many of us have in life is believing we have to handle it all on our own. That’s not how life really works.
In fact, it’s just the opposite. If we’re struggling with anxiety or some other issue, the best way we can feel better and start making progress is to talk to someone else and to God about it. By being real and admitting we have a problem, we immediately begin the process of getting better. No matter what we are worried about, the best thing we can do is to ask for help.
Surrender anxiety and find strength by getting help from others
1. Admit your weakness and start feeling better
It’s scary to admit our weaknesses, but that is often the first step to getting better. It shows strength of character to humbly admit you are hurting and let go of the false pride of self-sufficiency, and the healing process often begins the moment you admit you need it.
2. Seek and accept help and transform your life
Talking to someone about our problems brings relief, and it helps to share our burdens. We can also find helpful resources we can use. But transformation and peace come only when you surrender your weakness to God: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
3. Use your new strength and feel less anxiety
When we in faith declare our dependence on God, he shares his power with us. We acquire strength we didn’t have before because God gives it to us. We find we can not only live with anxiety but thrive because we now have a realistic assurance we can get through.
