That declaration is not meant to play to emotional and short-lived sentiments about self-help, resolutions, or will power. It is intended as a statement of fact.

You can improve your life.

Current habits don’t dictate your future. That voice in your head saying you don’t have the courage or serenity to make life better is a lie. If you want to change, you can. It’s your choice.

You can improve your life.

God has promised it to you. “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)

You can improve your life.

It may not work as merely a set of wishful resolutions, but it can succeed if you focus on adopting wise values. Then, choose next right steps in those areas, one day at a time.

You can improve your life, by taking STEPS to support your values in areas such as …

  • Meaning: Choose something you know God wants you to surrender.
  • Identity: Select a wrong you are doing that you will turn into a right.
  • Community: Pick the relationships that you will invest in and improve.
  • Contribution: Set a daily habit to make life better, such as a quiet time.
  • Purpose: Choose some projects you will engage in to serve other people.

You can improve your life, by adopting a more positive perspective:

  • Write down the values you selected as affirmations you will review regularly.
  • Adjust your mind-set to cope with real life better: Pause > Evaluate > Choose.
  • Use your faith in God as a “GPS” you utilize to guide you along your journey.

You can improve your life, starting with your next right steps.

Question: How will you feel after you have improved your life in those areas?
