How to Help Protect Your Teenagers

WHAT DOES THE BIBLE SAY THAT WILL HELP PROTECT MY KIDS FROM HARM?

As your kids go through the pre-teen and teenage years, they will face temptations that can lead them into dangerous situations. Are they ready to resist those temptations? You also need to be aware of dangers your kids may face, so you can be ready to help protect them.

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” (Matthew 26:41)

How can the Bible help you be aware and provide protection for your kids?

Be aware of bad influences and forces

The Bible explains how you and your kids live in a fallen world, and “your enemy prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” When it comes to temptations, parents should pray for the best and plan for the worst.

Build self-awareness and self-protection

Teenagers are human, and “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Help your kids understand we all have issues and make mistakes, so they are normal to feel tempted. Help them think about what they can do when they are.

Watch their direction to notice changes

Identify risk factors and warning signs to help you know if your kids are moving in a dangerous direction. Be on the lookout for changes in their habits, and “watch and pray so they will not fall into temptations” they can’t handle.
