Did you ever feel you were at a fork in the road, and that the path you chose might change your life, perhaps forever?
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.” (“The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost)
In my late thirties, I found myself at such a decision point. For a while, I had been investigating claims around God, the Bible, and evidence supporting the life of Jesus. As I did, a question kept popping into my mind: “If all this stuff about God is really true, doesn’t that change everything?” And the answer became clear: “Yes, it does.”
Sometimes, the most important thing we can do is ask the right questions. Because that leads us to the right answers.
That unsettling—yet exciting—realization led to more specific questions, such as:
- “How can I know God is real, and what is he like?”
- “Is the Bible really true, including about Jesus?”
- “Why am I here on earth, and what is my purpose?”
- “What are my values, and how will I live my life?”
“Judge a man by his questions rather than his answers.” (Voltaire)
My search for truth became both exciting and rewarding. I found answers for my deepest questions and had life-changing epiphanies along the way. After a while, I came to the conclusion that I had to decide, one way or the other, what I was going to do with those new insights. I was at a fork in the road; which one should I take?
So I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.

You have to decide what questions you will ask about life. Some may lead you to a fork in the road that is your life journey. You may come to the same decision point I did: “If all this stuff about God is really true, doesn’t that change everything?”
Apparently, Robert Frost faced his own personal fork in his spiritual journey. Although he expressed many views throughout his life, as he got older, his religious statements intensified. In his last letter, written a few days before he died, Frost gave an indication of what road he may have chosen when he said, “Salvation, we will never have from anyone but God.”
